Internships
A limited number of internship opportunities are available in our New York City National Headquarters. The U.S. Fund for UNICEF does not have overseas internships. Placement is subject to the needs of the organization, and the skills and interests of the intern. Interns help in a variety of activities, including research, analysis, marketing, and communications. Interns also assist in general office support and special projects.

Corporate Philanthropy Officer
National Headquarters, New York
The Officer will provide support for account management and business development activities. Responsibilities include: assisting the Manager and Deputy Director in developing and implementing corporate philanthropy partnerships; responding to partnership proposals; and managing small accounts. Other responsibilities will include assisting in developing presentations, gathering and analyzing data, writing reports, conducting prospect research, coordinating activities of department interns and volunteers; and participating in special projects.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, and a minimum of three years experience preferably in the non-profit or foundation sector, or the equivalent combination of education and experience required. Director of Education
National Headquarters, New York
Reporting to the Managing Director of Education and Community Partnerships, the Director will outline and manage the USF’s education strategy in the United States, developing and promoting pilot tested materials for educators and students nationwide. Key responsibilities include: Managing the implementation of USF’s education strategy by establishing goals and measurements; creating marketing materials and expansion plans related to TeachUNICEF materials for educators grades 6-12; maintain and develop existing relationships with partners and consultants for future growth of TeachUNICEF; analyze current education trends and formulate recommendations for the Fund’s strategic plan on education; identify funding sources to support long-term growth of the education programs; manage the development of educational materials for educators and youth based on UNICEF’s signature State of the World’s Children Report; oversee project management of new and existing initiatives; ensure the alignment of materials with national education standards; oversee development of middle and high school educational materials to support UNICEF’s signature Trick or Treat for UNICEF program and contribute to the development of an on-going evaluation process for educator and youth focused programs.

Masters degree, preferably in the field of education. Estates and Development Officer
National Headquarters, New York
Reporting to the Director of Gift Planning Programs, the Estates and Development Officer (Officer) oversees the Gift Planning Program’s Estates program and manages the estate process from front-line duties to ongoing stewardship. Specific duties include: review of estate documents to determine the U.S. Fund for UNICEF’s interest; corresponds with estate attorneys and relevant parties; tracks estates’ process to ensure timely distribution; prepares paper and electronic files; maintains database; processes receipts; creates reports; and, in consultation with the Director, handles complicated estates. Works with Finance Department and/or Office of the President on policies and procedures related to bequest gifts. In addition, the Officer manages all gift planning donor information, including support for the Deputy Director and Gift Planning Officer on PIDI data functions such as initial evaluation of donor inquiries; donor database maintenance; creates all paper and electronic donor and prospect files; coordinates strategy and analysis of donor visits; assists in prioritizing donor visits and stewardship activities; conducts periodic reviews of planned giving prospect pool; and re-evaluates probability and potential. Coordinates reporting gift information to gift participants, the Finance Department and the Finance Committee of the Board. Undertakes special projects at the direction of the Director.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and minimum of three years related job experience in fundraising (preferably gift planning) information management, or a related field such as law, or information technology, or the equivalent combination of education and experience are required. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and database management required. Research experience preferred. Ability to perform multiple and complex tasks, which include technical and legal information. Self starter who is well organized with excellent oral, written, organizational and interpersonal skills. Interactive Marketing Officer
National Headquarters, New York
Reporting to the Director of Interactive Marketing, the Interactive Marketing Officer will be responsible for the ongoing production and maintenance of interactive properties (websites, blog, email newsletters, etc.) in support of organizational goals. The Interactive Marketing Officer will work with other members of the department to post copy, images, video and other multimedia assets to the websites and blogs; to format and send email communications; and to implement new interactive projects as needed. Primary responsibilities include:

Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of three years of related work experience required. Must have ability to meet deadlines, work both independently and as a team member, and manage several projects at once. Must have attention to detail and design judgment, as well as excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PhotoShop, XML, and Flash required. Understanding of content management systems and cross-platform web development required. Graphic design background and familiarity with Convio CMS and eCRM highly desired.
Internal Audit Manager
National Headquarters, New York
The Internal Auditor Manager (“IA”) will provide independent and objective assurance through a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control, the governance process and operational performance and quality assurance. Reporting jointly to the Chief Executive Officer on audit matters, and the Director of Financial Planning and Business Analysis on quality assurance matters with a dotted line report to the Chairman of the Audit Committee, , the IA will assess and report on: reliability and integrity of the financial and operational systems; effectiveness and efficiency of USF operations; safeguarding of assets; and compliance with laws, regulations and contracts. Responsibilities include:
• Prepare audit programs and conduct audits in accordance with the programs while maintaining sufficient audit evidence
• Prepare formal written reports, including reports to the Audit Committee, documenting work performed and findings
• Hold exit conferences to discuss results with staff and senior management while recommending policies, procedures, and solutions
• Help establish a risk-based activity plan on an annual basis
• Prepare materials that helps communicate such plans to senior management and the audit committee
• Update policies and procedures for the internal audit function including a charter
• Work with outside auditors to reduce audit costs; and perform related audit duties and special projects as required
• Perform reviews and business analysis of operations and information technologies to measure the quality of these procedures and services
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related financial field, and four (4) to six (6) years of experience performing audits. Excellent analytical, oral and written communications skills are important. Experience using Network based software packages, such as general ledger bank reconciliation, and financial reporting software especially Great Plains e-Enterprise is a plus. The IA must have integrity, objectivity, and respect for confidentiality. A CPA or CIA is required.
Manager of Corporate Marketing Partnerships

Reporting to the Director of Corporate Marketing Partnerships, the Manager will serve as primary contact with corporate partners, coordinating all internal and external resources to ensure the programs are effectively executed and both the partners’ and USF’s needs are met. Primary responsibilities include:
- Developing account plans for partners that are strategic, reflect growth opportunities and meet their objectives (this person will be accountable for meeting specific revenue targets).
- Cultivating, managing and growing key relationships with corporate marketing partners.
- Developing and implementing account plans which maximize partnerships through cause-related marketing, promotional activities, sponsorships, and customer marketing activities while also delivering on the partners' business and philanthropy goals.
- Initiating innovative ideas to generate new revenue (will be accountable for meeting revenue targets) and develop compelling proposals.
- Negotiating financial terms and contracts with corporate partners.
- Making presentations and leading meetings externally with corporate partners and also with internal partners from other departments.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of work experience developing integrated marketing programs (e.g. online, retail, PR, advertising, etc.) targeting different audiences in the corporate sector. Ideally, candidates will have direct experience in a marketing, sponsorship, brand management, or account management role. He/she must also possess a demonstrated track record of managing multi-year, strategic corporate partnerships. Excellent writing, interpersonal and presentation skills are required and strong networking and relationship building skills are a must. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience developing and implementing business plans, including goals, strategies, and tactics. Ability to travel up to 20% to domestic and international developing country locations required.
Manager of Corporate Philanthropy

Reporting to the Deputy Director of Corporate Philanthropy, the Manager will oversee and grow a diverse portfolio of existing corporate partnership relationships, with primary emphasis on donors interested in UNICEF’s program priorities in the field. Primary responsibilities include:

- Writing compelling grant proposals and reports to corporate audiences that reflect objectives that are aligned between the donor’s interests and UNICEF’s program priorities.

- Serving as primary contact with assigned corporate partners, coordinating all internal resources to ensure that both the partners' and UNICEF’s needs are met.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years relevant work experience, preferably in corporate foundation account management. Excellent writing, interpersonal and presentation skills are required. He/she must also possess a demonstrated track record of managing multi-year, strategic corporate partnerships. New Business Development Officer
NYC National Headquarters
Reporting to the Director of Corporate Business Development, the New Business Development Officer will provide support to the team by researching corporate sales prospects and making cold calls to identify and solicit corporate prospects. The successful candidate will assist in generating revenue through implementation of cause-related marketing strategies, sponsorships and cross-promotional opportunities. Primary responsibilities include:
- Conducting prospect research
- Developing marketing pitch documents
- Making sales presentations to prospective corporate partners
- Coordinating the national Tap Advisory Committee, whose membership will include a national board representative, corporate leaders and celebrities
- Responding to unsolicited and referral inquiries.
Qualifications

NGO Coordinator
NYC National Headquarters
Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) are generally defined by USF as civil society membership-based organizations that have a central headquarters in the United States with chapters or divisions throughout the U.S. or internationally. Organizations which operate under these criteria include international service-based organizations, faith-based organizations, diversity or ex-pat organizations, and professional & women’s organizations. Additionally, US-based technical NGOs (which may provide direct service in the field) are included in this group. Reporting to the Director, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO), the Coordinator will be responsible for managing the daily administrative activities of the department as USF raises funds, educates and engages the NGO constituency in support of UNICEF’s work. He/she will also provide support to the Director and Manager of the NGO Department. Additional responsibilities include:
• Processing invoices, check requests and contributions, maintaining and analyzing donor database (PIDI); responding to inquiries from the public and NGO constituencies and researching donors and potential new partners;
• Creating, formatting, editing UNICEF programmatic material to be used in public speaking presentations by the Director and Manager;
• Assisting in planning special events; coordinating all shipping and travel related to attending constituent conventions;
• Speaking to the public about UNICEF programs at select constituent conventions when hosting the USF booth; and some public-speaking events to school groups and NGO constituents.
• Monitoring the NGO email account; coordinating all informational mailings from the NGO department, including drafting correspondence, mail-merge of letters, stuffing envelopes, etc.
• Gathering stories and highlights of achievements from NGO constituents for showcasing on USF website, newsletters, and the media;
• Additional activities include attending NGO sponsored issue-related events in NYC as requested by the Director, attending donor conventions to host the US Fund’s information booth and performing administrative tasks and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years related experience, or a combination of education and experience, preferably with an NGO related to children’s health or child rights, or the equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• Applicant should be able to work within a team environment as well as independently and must thrive in a fast-paced environment. Applicant must possess the ability to prioritize while working under multiple deadlines.
• Must possess strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, with excellent writing and project management skills, and demonstrated ability to problem-solve and manage multiple projects.
• Experience planning and executing events and web-posting experience through a Content Management System (CMS) is a plus.
• Applicant should possess initiative, curiosity, be attentive to detail, and accurate. Applicant should be able to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion and be willing to work outside normal business hours as necessary. Must be willing to travel domestically less than 10%.

NGO Manager

Reporting to the Director of NGOs, the NGO Manager is charged with three main areas of focus:
• Maximizing donor financial support with existing NGO partners and steward those relationships;
• Capitalizing on the power of NGO donors’ constituents for community education and grass-roots advocacy initiatives; and
• Securing new organizational donors.
Additional responsibilities include:
• Implementing the current partnership strategic plan for the NGO department in consultation with the NGO Director, updating and revising the plan to reflect growth opportunities and meet USF objectives, while also delivering on the partners’ goals for the USF partnership.
• Cultivating, managing and growing key relationships with current and prospective NGO partners interested in supporting UNICEF’s work in child survival and development, including health, education, child protection, HIV/AIDS, water and sanitation, and children’s rights.
• Making presentations and leading meetings externally with NGO partners and USF supporters, as well as with civil society organizations on issues facing children. Presentations to and leading meetings with internal partners from other departments will also be expected.
• Writing compelling grant proposals and reports to NGO audiences that reflect objectives that are aligned between the donor’s interests and UNICEF’s program priorities.
• Assisting in budget and revenue tracking;
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work experience in fund-raising or marketing or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Some background in communications, public information, sales or advertising preferred.

• Ability to distill UN/international development language into donor-friendly terms and to write detailed project proposals and budgets on UNICEF field priorities

Program and Research Coordinator
National Headquarters, New York
Reporting to the Director of Program Funding and Prospect Development (PFPD), the Program and Research Coordinator supports the team by providing a wide range of administrative and organizational support, including data-entry and analysis, coordinating activities, maintaining files, preparing correspondence, assisting with internal and external communications, and assisting with special projects. The Program and Research Coordinator is a critical team member, whose focus is to ensure the smooth operations of the team. The Program Funding and Prospect Development Team is a resource for the U.S. Fund, providing UNICEF program expertise and innovative prospect development techniques to efficiently foster USF philanthropic goals and uphold its overarching vision of saving children lives. Additional responsibilities include:
- Share program information with USF Staff through the organization of brown bag sessions and maintain USF’s Publication Library
- Assist in the determination of appropriate placement of information in the PIDI database and enter data accurately following established policies and procedures
- Format and compile preliminary research profile information about current and potential major gift investors
- Coordinate communication, disseminate information and maintain effective workflow of the Program Funding and Prospect Development department
- Interpret and communicate department policy and procedures and standards of confidentiality for donor information to USF staff
- Assist in the preparation of training materials for new USF staff regarding the use of the Program Funding and Prospect Development resources
- Update and edit program materials for accuracy, appearance, readability and style
- Track, monitor and prioritize program and research tasks and projects
- Support the execution of contracts and coordinate budget monitoring and reporting
- Assist in planning and coordinating meetings and events
- Draft and editing policies, procedures, correspondence, and presentations
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years administrative experience, experience working in a non-profit and/or fundraising organization preferred. He/she will have a demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of donor information and proven customer service skills, including the ability to work well with individuals with diverse backgrounds and communication styles. The candidate will also possess strong verbal and written communication skills and have the ability to work independently, with strong attention to detail and to manage multiple projects from multiple sources. He/she will also be proficient with MS Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. The ideal candidate will also possess demonstrated experience establishing organizational systems to improve department efficiency and possess solid critical thinking and analytical skills.
Program Officer
National Headquarters, New York
Reporting to the Director of Program Funding and Prospect Development (PFPD) and working closely with all members of the PFPD Team, the Program Officer will partner with development staff, advising them on program funding, donor engagement, solicitation strategies, and stewardship activities for major gift donors. Responsibilities include: analyzing and interpreting UNICEF information for internal and external purposes; creating text content for proposals, reports, and assisting others in creating organizational messaging tools; developing and increasing specialist knowledge in UNICEF’s work in an area of country, regional, and program expertise as assigned; keeping abreast of UNICEF’s programs and advising fundraisers on new initiatives; updating a program source of information for all National and Regional Office staff through the maintenance of the department’s internal web page; providing training for new development staff in the use of self-help tools and other available resources; and help organize the logistics of all donor visits to the field for the organization, approximately 4 times each year.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years related development experience. Must possess excellent presentation and organizational skills, and be able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Excellent written and oral communications skills are essential, proposal writing experience a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required. Ability to carry out multiple projects simultaneously with independence and ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality required.
Vice President of Corporate Partnerships
National Headquarters, New York
Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Vice President Corporate Partnerships is responsible for leading the strategic direction of the Corporate Partnerships department with specific responsibility for overseeing the implementation of the new 5 year strategic growth plan. The successful candidate will have oversight for teams responsible for corporate philanthropy, cause-related marketing, employee giving, corporate foundations, and gifts-in-kind. Current department revenue exceeds $250MM annually. Essential Responsibilities include: Providing the strategic direction and leadership required for the department to achieve the revenue growth objectives as put forth in the US Fund’s 5 year strategic plan; developing and managing annual revenue and expense budgets according to the agreed upon objectives and priorities for the department; ensuring identification and dissemination of best fundraising practices both within the organization and externally for utilization by Corporate Partnerships staff; leading, motivating and managing the Corporate Partnerships staff in line with organizational objectives; and participating as a member of the President’s Cabinet, the USF’s senior management team.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) and a minimum of ten years related development experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience required. He/she will have demonstrated experience managing a Corporate Partnerships team or department and the ability to work in a fast paced environment under multiple deadlines. The VP will possess superb relationship, networking and interpersonal skills and will be a savvy communicator with the ability to effectively organize and present information in a persuasive business case format. He/she will also have a proven track record for leading and motivating teams to success and for being results driven with a focus on continuous improvement. The successful candidate will be computer and internet literate and will be able to manage a moderate travel schedule.
