Anthony (Tony) Lake
Anthony (Tony) Lake began a two-year term as Chair of the board in June 2004. Lake served as National Security Advisor under President Bill Clinton. His distinguished career in the U.S. Foreign Service began in 1962 when he was posted to Vietnam. In 1977, he became head of the State Department's policy planning operation. More recently, he served as the U.S. Special Envoy to Ethiopia and Eritrea. Currently a professor at Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service, Lake is also on the boards of the Carnegie Council on Ethics and International Affairs and Freedom House, as well as the International Committee of the Red Cross Advisory Board.
